Cricket is our lovable Great Pyrenees with the important job of keeping our alpacas, chickens, and smaller dogs safe from the local wildlife, including coyotes, bears, and mountain lions. She’s a gentle giant—calm and mellow with our animals and family—but don’t be fooled by her laid-back vibe. The moment something unfamiliar shows up, whether it’s a stray animal or an unexpected visitor, Cricket springs into action with all the authority of a furry security chief.

Most days, you’ll find her lounging in the sun, patiently enduring sneak attacks from our energetic terriers. But if there’s one thing that really gets under her fluffy white coat, it’s the crows. They seem to be her sworn enemies, and she’s never shy about letting them know who’s boss. Her favorite things in life? Doing her hilarious “pre-dinner dance” every evening and getting her ears rubbed—nothing makes her happier.
